Ice Storm 2011

This week we had two days off from school, which is probably why I got so much crafting done. Tuesday it snowed like crazy and Wednesday it ice stormed like crazy. Here are some pretty images I took Wednesday morning after the storm. The beauty of the ice on everything really inspired me to step on my porch and take pictures. I didn't make it past my porch: 1) it was too icy on the sidewalks, 2) water melting everywhere would've killed my camera if it got on it, 3) i didn't want to risk going out any further into the FRIGID weather. So these are some bushes right off my porch, not the prettiest plants, but they sure do look cool with the ice.

Flowers

I made some rolled fabric flowers. I took some pictures of them with this pretty glass engraving. When I photograph objects I like to use this area of my house, the color of the wall paint is so pretty and I thought it matched my dark greyish green flower nicely. I have been especially crafty lately, even selling some bracelets for my mission trip to Mexico in May. http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Bracelets-4-Mexico/164950350219959 Check them out. Also, I have been reading a lot more books lately. Currently I'm working on Tuesdays with Morrie. I have read Three Cups of Tea, The Bookseller of Kabul and Same Kind of Different as Me in the last few months. As my final months as a senior come to a close, reading, crafting and artwork at school are the only things keeping my Senioritus down. But I'm enjoying my final days here and can't wait to get to Arkansas! xD

Baked Goods

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Holidays! I am really excited for Christmas because I get to see my beloved, after a very long 3 months of waiting. (Okay, so its not that long, but it feels long.) Also, Christmas is the happy time of year when the whole world thinks of Jesus Christ, which is who I believe in. So its important to me. But anyways, that's a long other tangent.

Anyways I've been making wonderful baked goods out of darling ol' Bisquick. Yes the simple Bisquick made these amazing treats! I made cinnamon sugar mini bread sticks. I also made cinnamon rolls with sugar glaze. Ah! How much fun it is to make sweet sugary treats! :)

I like sweaters, mostly. But sometimes they get old, messy and not usable... or so we think! The ugliest sweaters can be used to create new and usable products! I have made two different products out of my reject sweaters. Just in time for winter! :)

These are bracelets, they are not a tight fit, I will have to figure out how to make them tighter.



And these are iPod cases. The first one will fit a regular iPod touch/ phone. The second would fit a fourth generation iPod Nano

These aren't technically recylced, but they are upcycled most definitely! I stitched three (only two pictured) animals in these painted loops. The animals I thought were whimsical choices, and animals I love. I would love to sell these three as a set, but I think I'd need to do a little more advertising at this point and sell to those who would really buy. I am working on more of these loops, I want to do a kitchen set and possibly another set, but I have yet to come up with the ideas for it. Any ideas, let me know! Thanks :)

Recylced Crafts

Here are some more crafts I've done recently.

Two bracelets made of white t-shirts,

five painted clothespins,

and a blue bead necklace with wooden bead clasp.

simple scarf

I don't normally get projects done so quickly, as I have five or six started and still need to be finished. But I was super excited about this project. It is a recycled, or upcylced as I like to call it, scarf. It is made from four used, but clean, t-shirts. I made the shirts into yarn balls, I used the same reds together and the same greys together. As you can see, the knit is a pretty wide gauge, that is because the needles I used are about size 35. The finished product is shown in these pictures here. I hope you like them, I know I find it really comfortable. My sister emily (the model pictured) liked wearing it for the shoot.
